Why use a Wedding Planner?

Just saying the words wedding planner conjures up all kinds of images, mainly of Jennifer Lopez running around with a head set on, or Franc from Father of the Bride defrosting swans!

I know that many think of using a wedding planner as an american trend and do not really know what a wedding planner does or why you would want to use one.

I would like to clear up a few of the myths of wedding planning and share a few facts about the role and trade itself.

- Between 10-15% of UK couples use a wedding planner

- That is between 25-37, 000 couples each year, and this figure is predicted to double over the next 5 years

- It takes an average of 36 days, adding up to 250 hours to plan a wedding

- The average cost of a wedding in the UK is £27, 000

- Nearly 70% of brides state that planning their wedding made them less productive at work

(Figures from Bridebook, UKAWP and Daily Mail)

There are many benefits to using a wedding planner but the main reasons are:

Save Time

It can take over 250 hours to plan a wedding. Imagine not having to trawl endless wedding fairs, endless internet searches and visits to potential venues and suppliers only to be disappointed with the results and having to do it all again. Using a wedding planner removes all of this, you can sit back and let someone else do all the hard work for you! A wedding planner does all the searching, all the hard work, they already know all the best suppliers, venues and all the ins and outs involved in pulling together the wedding of your dreams.

Save Money

There are so many things to pay for when organising a wedding, and you may think that using a wedding planner is adding to this list. However, a wedding planner will have strong relationships with their key suppliers, they will have the best contacts and will have many tricks and tips to get discounts and to find the best ideas for your budget.

Alleviate Stress & Worry

There are a million and one things to think about when planning your wedding, so many big and smalls things all come together to create your big day. From venue searching, to guest list organising, to posting invites.....with all of these tasks to take care of it can be easy to forget when the florist needs paying or that the bridesmaids dresses needed altering by 2 weeks ago! A wedding planner can take care of all these things for you, and with a personalised wedding timeline they will even remind you of all the little details, thus eliminating and stress or worry. A wedding planner can ensure everything is covered on the day too, not just in the run up to the wedding. Bliss!
